Freelancer Marketing Tips

When you're starting as a freelance writer, it's easy to let yourself be distracted by shiny objects. You see a new tool, or a cool technique, and before you know it, you've fallen into the trap of thinking that those are the best ways to get more work...and that they'll make you look smarter than everyone else.

But there is one thing that will always keep you above water - and that's relevance. If you write what people want to read, you'll have a better chance of getting paid. But how do you actually go about doing that? Here are some tips to help you get started.

Start with Google analytics

You need to understand what kind of traffic you're getting before you can start planning your strategy. Get up-to-the-minute information about visitors to your website using Google Analytics. It's free and very simple to set up.

Analytics will tell you which words people are searching for that relate to your niche, and give you an idea of where your readers come from. There are also tools like Hubspot, which allows you to track your leads through email campaigns. These are great additions when you're just starting out, but if you already have a good base of subscribers, then you can probably afford to ignore them.

What does this all mean for you? It means you need to use keywords in your article titles and descriptions, and throughout your copy, so that when someone searches for something directly related to your business, your article shows up at the top of search results.

Use keyword research tools

The next step is to use a keyword research tool like Google AdWords Keyword Tool or SEMrush to find keywords that are most likely to yield your target audience. This is especially important if you're writing for B2B clients, as well as anyone who wants to sell products online.

Then, once you've found your keywords, it's time to put them in your title and description. Make sure they're in a natural way, though - don't stuff them in there willy-nilly. That won't get you anywhere. It's also worth noting that some search engine optimization (SEO) experts might recommend avoiding keyword stuffing entirely.

If you're not sure what keyword density is, you can check our guide to keyword density. The bottom line is that you should avoid going over 20 percent, because you run the risk of being penalized by Google.

Create high quality content

Writing a blog post isn't enough; you also need to create a series of articles that answer questions about your field. For example, if you sell fitness equipment, you'd ideally publish three different pieces of content.

First, you could write articles answering common questions people ask about buying, fixing, and maintaining their equipment. Second, you could write articles answering common questions people ask about using their equipment. And finally, you could write articles answering common questions people ask about finding the best deals on their equipment.

This approach helps you build up a portfolio of useful content that gives potential customers exactly what they're looking for. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to test out new topics and ideas without putting too much pressure on yourself.

Focus on UX

It goes without saying that if you want to rank highly in search engines, you need to focus on user experience (UX). Your users are the ones who are searching for you, after all. So, what does this mean?

Well, if you want to win over any new clients, you need to consider your site's design and navigation. People are less likely to trust you if your site looks cluttered, or if it takes them too long to find the things they were looking for.

Make sure your site is clean and easy to navigate, and that people have plenty of room to view your content. You don't need to spend a fortune on fancy graphics, but you should invest in a quality template that makes your site look professional and relevant to your niche.

Format for featured snippets

To really increase your chances of ranking higher in search rankings, you should optimize your pages for featured snippets. This is a special section that appears towards the top of search results, usually in bold text.

These are often populated by Google itself, as it chooses the best result based on what it thinks would be most useful to its users. In other words, these are the perfect place to show off your expertise.

In order to appear here, you need to follow Google's guidelines for creating featured snippet-ready content. You need to include lots of relevant keywords, and ensure that each piece of content is focused on answering the question posed by the search engine.

For example, if your topic is "How to stop procrastinating," you may want to write about the benefits of meditation instead. Or maybe you should write about the benefits of exercising to relieve stress.

Keep the page short

Search engines only display snippets of your content, so you don't want to waste precious space with unnecessary fluff. Keep your content focused, and don't include irrelevant sidebars or sections.

This applies to both your articles and your landing pages. Don't forget to use images sparingly, too. Search engines love images, so try to add them whenever possible. Otherwise, you risk falling prey to link bait.

Remove everything that doesn't contribute

Sometimes, you'll get requests from clients asking you to remove certain elements from your site. This is a terrible idea! What they're trying to say is that they want you to change your existing content to fit their needs. This is bad practice, because you can never please everybody.

Instead, you should strive to maintain consistency across your entire site. If you need to change something, then you may want to rewrite it. But otherwise, stick to your original plans. Even if it means ignoring a request from a client, this is a small price to pay for keeping your site consistent.

And lastly, remember that you're only writing for humans. If your content seems boring or repetitive, you need to take a step back and reevaluate whether you're providing value for your audience. Think about why they came to your site in the first place, and try to connect with them.

If you can do that, then you'll have no trouble attracting paying clients in future.

Summary: Best SEO tips to grow your business and become a successful freelance writer

Writing for human beings is still the best way to build a successful career. However, writing for search engines can help you gain more visibility and attract new clients. It doesn't matter what industry you're working in, as long as you stay true to your purpose.

Web Design Tips

A good web design should be simple, clean, and functional. It should not be cluttered with too much information or complicated navigational options. Your site visitors will thank you for it!

Here are some tips for designing a great website that will help you succeed.

Make sure your site has an easily identifiable header section. You can use this as a way to quickly identify what the page is about. This includes the title of the page, along with any sub-headings (if applicable). Make sure your headers are large enough to make them clearly visible on any size monitor. The header area should also include your contact info so that users have somewhere to go if they need more information about your business.

Use a navigation bar to allow visitors to quickly find pages on your site without clicking through multiple pages. Make sure all links are clearly marked so visitors know where to click. If your site uses drop down menus then make sure they are large enough to be seen by visitors.

Make sure text is readable and clear at all times. Avoid using small fonts. Ensure paragraphs are kept short and don't go over two lines. Also, avoid using colors that are difficult to read. Use only bright, bold colors.

Include search bars on every page of your site. Include a "Search" button in the header section. Make sure you have a "Contact Us" option available on each page of your website.

If you have several pages on your site that relate to one topic, make sure they are grouped together in logical sections. For example, if you have a page about your products, make sure there is another page related to your services. This allows visitors to see everything they need to know about your company without having to scroll through your entire site.

Your home page should provide your visitors with a quick overview of your organization. This will help visitors decide whether or not they want to continue reading. Keep it brief and to the point. Be sure to include prominent call to action buttons such as "Contact Us," "Shop Now," "Get a Free Quote," etc. Try to keep these buttons in the same location on every page of your site.

Your site's layout should be consistent throughout. This means that the same style should be used on all pages. Don't use different styles on individual pages unless necessary.

For example, your "About Us" page may use a light blue background, while your "Services" page should use a teal color. If you do choose to use a different color scheme, be sure to change both the background color and any other elements that are being changed. For example, change the font color, size, and typeface.

Make sure the most important information is displayed first. This will give visitors confidence in your product. If you have a lot of information, try to place it above the fold - meaning the top part of the screen before scrolling down to view more information. Try to keep everything above the fold as concise as possible.

It is best to keep your site content short and to the point. Visitors like to get their information quickly. Longer articles tend to bore readers and can cause them to lose interest.

Don't overload websites with too many images. A picture says a thousand words, but you don't want to overwhelm your reader with dozens of photos. Only add pictures that are relevant to your subject matter.

Keep your home page clean and uncluttered. Do not fill it up with unnecessary ads, banners, or pop ups. Make sure your visitor can navigate around your page easily. If you feel compelled to display a banner ad, try to position it in such a way that it isn't distracting from the main article.

If you use social media sites, make sure to post your website link on them. Not only will your Facebook fans see your latest posts, but they will also be able to visit your website directly.

Ensure that your site is easy to navigate. Create links to the various page sections on your site using descriptive titles. Provide visitors with a quick guide to getting started with your site. Give them an idea of how long it might take for them to complete a certain task.

Finally, ensure your site is mobile friendly. Mobile users account for roughly half of all online traffic. To accommodate them, create a site that is optimized for viewing on smartphones and tablets.

You now have a better understanding of what makes a successful website. It is time to start planning. Whether you're looking to create a new website for yourself or for your business, follow these steps to ensure success. Good luck!

SEO Marketing Tips

The SEO industry is a lot like sports, with lots of rules and regulations to follow. The rules are constantly evolving, so it's important to stay up-to-date on changes to SEO best practices. With so many different factors involved in SEO, there's no one quick and easy way to get started. In this article, we'll discuss the basics of what you need to know to improve your search engine rankings.

It's critical to realize that SEO is not about tricking search engines. Search engines want to index high quality websites that are useful to their users. So, don't do any tricks or gimmicks that will make your website appear spammy or low quality. If you're unsure how to achieve top search engine results without doing some tricks, check out our guide to SEO best practices. It includes the following tips:

Write For Humans First and Search Engines Second - You should always write for human readers and visitors before you write for search engines. Your goal should be to provide users with a great user experience. When this happens, you can expect that search engines will return your website to its rightful place at the top of search results.

Use Targeted Keywords in All the Right Places - To achieve top placement in search results, you need to use specific keywords in multiple locations on your website. These include: H1 tags, page titles, URL structure, meta descriptions, alt text, image alt tags, etc. You also need to optimize your content for these keywords, which means using them frequently throughout your copy.

Focus On User Experience (UX) - A good UX design makes all the difference between your site being found and being ignored by users who have better things to do than visit your website. Keep in mind that usability trumps SEO every time.

Remove Anything That Slows Down Your Site - There are plenty of things you can remove from your website to speed up load times. The most common culprits are images, JavaScript files, Flash movies, heavy CSS, and other resources that slow loading pages. You can test your own website to see if removing those elements affects performance.

Format Content For Featured Snippets - Featured snippets are small bits of information that appear when you type in a query into Google. They're usually displayed above the organic search results. Many webmasters think they are the same as sponsored ads because they look like advertisements. But featured snippets are actually part of Google's algorithm to determine which websites are the best answer to a user's question. Therefore, these snippets contain useful information that your website should have too. Make sure you format your content for featured snippets.

Remove Any Unnecessary Words From Headings & Titles - Google doesn't care about the words themselves; only whether they help a user understand the content of a webpage. If you have unnecessary words in headings or titles, then they won't help a reader find what they're looking for. This can cause your website to rank lower in search results.

Make Sure Everything Is Accessible - Accessibility is another key factor in ranking well in search results. If your website isn't accessible to people with disabilities, Google could punish you for it. Even though it's unlikely, it's possible someone could report your site for failing accessibility guidelines, hurting your chances of ranking highly in search results.

In addition, make sure you aren't violating any terms of service agreements or policies that Google has posted. For example, you might be required to disclose paid ads or certain types of advertising. Or, you may be prohibited from displaying "click here" buttons or other types of call-to-action prompts.

Keep an Eye on Changes in Best Practices - As new SEO trends emerge, you'll want to keep an eye on them. Some of the more recent developments include responsive design, mobile friendliness, and voice search optimization. As you learn more about these topics, you'll probably discover additional ways to improve your search engine rankings.
