Search engines only display snippets of your content, so you don't want to waste precious space with unnecessary fluff. Keep your content focused, and don't include irrelevant sidebars or sections. 


This applies to both your articles and your landing pages. Don't forget to use images sparingly, too. Search engines love images, so try to add them whenever possible. Otherwise, you risk falling prey to link bait. 


Remove everything that doesn't contribute 


Sometimes, you'll get requests from clients asking you to remove certain elements from your site. This is a terrible idea! What they're trying to say is that they want you to change your existing content to fit their needs. This is bad practice, because you can never please everybody. 


Instead, you should strive to maintain consistency across your entire site. If you need to change something, then you may want to rewrite it. But otherwise, stick to your original plans. Even if it means ignoring a request from a client, this is a small price to pay for keeping your site consistent. 


And lastly, remember that you're only writing for humans. If your content seems boring or repetitive, you need to take a step back and reevaluate whether you're providing value for your audience. Think about why they came to your site in the first place, and try to connect with them. 


If you can do that, then you'll have no trouble attracting paying clients in future.
